Z-Enology assay Brett testing

Z-Enology currently provides a 48-hour wine testing service for the detection and quantification of Brettanomyces.

How it works.

1. Call or E-mail Z-Enology to make arrangements to send your wine samples.

2. Arrange payment method (normally check or credit card).

3. Send your samples as instructed below.

4. Within 48 hours of receipt your samples will be tested using the Z-Brett Assay™ method and the results e-mailed to you.

5. Price is $30 per sample with minimum of 4 samples.

Instructions for sending your wine samples to Z-Enology.

1. Collect about 100mls (or about 1 cup) of wine. Brett tends to sink to the bottom so we recommend mixing prior to collection or sampling from the bottom of the container (e.g. barrel) and label collection vessel. Please use an airtight and liquid-tight container for your samples. We recommend an internal code and sample number. Write code and number on container or waterproof tape applied to container.

2. Send your samples by 1 or 2 day delivery. If shipped on ice, further cell growth stimulated by collection procedures, mixing and temperature will be minimized.

4. Notify us that your samples are on their way. List the number of samples and their codes/and or numbers and the date shipped.

Procedure: same as above but allow 2 weeks for selective plating
